One of the main goals of advising is to help students make connections between their studies and their lives after ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥.

Career Readiness Fact Sheet

  • From the National Association of Colleges and Employers, click here for a listing of the eight competencies that prepare students to transition into the workplace. How many of them can students connect directly to their experiences at Witt? (Answer--all of them: they just might need some prompting to make the connections.)

Key Findings from Employer Research: AAC&U 2018

  • for a quick, helpful handout that lists the qualities employers are looking for in a new hire. Many of them align with ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥'s core learning goals.

Center on Education and Workforce (CEW) State Reports

  • From Georgetown University's CEW comes that allows you and students to investigate the labor market by location.

ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Career Services

  • Perhaps the most important link--make sure that your students have made a connection with Career Services. The folks over there can help students define a direction for their life (career assessment), find options that help them gain practical experience (internships, summer research), and learn the nuts and bolts of getting to their life after ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥(resumes, mock interviews, cover letters). Students can make a four-year plan with Career Services to align with their academic plan.
