Religious Literacy Summer Workshop
The Department of Religion at ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ is offering a special four-day, on-campus summer workshop for K-12 teachers on the topic of religious literacy in today’s classrooms, June 6-9, 2023 in Springfield, Ohio. Facilitated by Travis Proctor, assistant professor of religion at ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥, and Matthew Hotham, assistant professor of religious studies at Ball State University, the workshop promotes public education and community outreach.
Demons and Ghost Tours
With its exploration of demons – including disembodiment, exorcism, and demonic sacrifice – Travis Proctor’s debut scholarly book, Demonic Bodies and the Dark Ecologies of Early Christian Culture, (Oxford University Press, May 2022), just might be the perfect Halloween read. Proctor, ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ assistant professor of religion, has long been fascinated by demons and interested in early Christian cultures, particularly the many diverse ways early Christians portrayed demons.
