Paint and Play

Today was our second day working at the school and a lot of progress was made on the projects.

The playground is nearly done after lots of pickaxes swinging and heavy lifting. Almost all of the pieces are in place and it will be ready for play tomorrow. It looks so great and the children seem very excited.

Painting continued throughout the day. The vibrant blue paint that was on parts of the walls originally refused to go away but after layer upon layer of paint, the walls were covered and so were many bodies. Some of the classrooms began painting the designs on the walls and maps, beautiful butterflies, trees, numbers, and letters started to take form. Also, a fantastic map of Africa began to come alive on the side of the schoolhouse.

It was nice to have the kids all around, even though they are on their winter break, to watch us work. They were very interested and excited to see their school start to transform. They kids were funny and also really loved to touch the paint.

At one point we taught them how to sing row row row your boat and after they sang for us the Lesotho National Anthem, which was very beautiful.

We are looking forward to tomorrow as some of the women in the community are going to be cooking lunch for us to say thank you and celebrate.

See you soon, Jeanette, Maggie J., and Maggie R.

P.S. Mom, wishing you a very very happy birthday, I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. Family and friends, I am having such a wonderful time and experiencing so much! I cant believe this trip is nearly over; I am not ready to leave but I am also looking forward to seeing you. xoxo Jeanette
